frequently asked questions:

Q: Does tattoo removal hurt?

A: Tattoo removal can be painful. A lot people ask us if it feels like getting a tattoo. Our answer to that is no. Removing a tattoo feels more like an electrical shock with a bit of heat, as where a tattoo feels more like a pinch with pressure. The good news is tattoo removal is very fast. A tattoo the size of a credit card should only take around 60-90 seconds to treat. We also use cold air before, during, and after treatment to help minimize the pain. A medical-grade numbing cream is also included in our pricing, and can make the removal a bit less painful. For clients who have a very low pain tolerance, we do provide a variety of special numbing treatments for an additional cost.

Q: Can I tattoo over the area I get laser tattoo removal on?

A: Yes! Just a few sessions of laser removal on your old tattoo will help your new, cover-up tattoo look much cleaner. Plus, your artist will thank you!

Q: How many treatments will it take to remove my tattoo?

A: How many treatments you will need depends on what kind of ink was used in the tattoo, if the tattoo has any scarring, the location on the body of the tattoo, if the tattoo is professional or amateur, what skin type you have, and if the tattoo is new work or a cover up. We provide free consultations and flexible hours for you to come in so we can better determine how many treatments will be right for you.

Q: Will the laser tattoo removal treatments leave a scar?

A: When laser treatments are preformed properly, the risk of scarring is extremely low. It is also important to follow the aftercare instructions given at the time of treatment to avoid any scarring. (For example, picking at the tattoo after removal or being in the sun without sunscreen can cause scarring and should be avoided.)

Q: How long do I have to wait in-between laser tattoo removal treatments?

A: We recommend waiting at least 8 weeks in between treatments to allow the body to fully dispel the ink broken up by the last laser treatment. Treatments too close together can also result in hypopigmentation (the skin getting lighter). Brand new tattoos need at least six weeks to heal before the first laser treatment can be done.

Q: Will my tattoo completely disappear?

A: Lasers will generally eliminate about 95% of the tattoo.

Q: What type of post-treatment care is necessary after laser tattoo removal?

A: At the time of treatment, we will talk about as well as provide a handout with very important aftercare instructions. We highly recommend that our clients follow these instructions to provide the best outcomes. Most clients have zero downtime and can return to most of their daily activities immediately after treatment.

Q: How long is the down time after a fractional Co2 laser facial?

A: While everyone heals differently, you can expect to have at least five days downtime after a fractional Co2 laser treatment. During these five days, no moisture or makeup can be applied to the skin. Doing so may hinder the full benefits of your skin rejuvenation procedure. At the time of treatment or in a consultation, we will explain in more detail what to expect. We do highly recommend adding on a Neo Genesis stem cell aftercare treatment to greatly reduce pain and downtime.

Q. How long do I need to wait in between Co2 treatments?

A: We can safely repeat a Co2 treatment in 8 weeks. However, one Co2 treatment will continue building collagen for 6 to 9 months after a treatment. We only recommend repeating Co2 treatments every 8 weeks in cases were we are working on more severe scarring or anti aging. Otherwise, a treatment every 6 to 12 months is recommended.

Q. How many treatments of laser hair removal will I need?

A. Most of the time, 4 to 7 treatments is needed.

Q. Is hair removal permanent?

A. Hair removal will be permanent hair reduction. Some people will need a touch up every 6 to 12 months. Some clients can go even longer without needing a touch up.

Q. Can hair removal work on all hair types?

A. Laser hair removal will only work on light to dark brown hair. The laser seeks out the pigment in the hair follicle and causes a reaction to destroy the hair. Laser hair removal will not work on grey, blond, or red hair.
